Why October costs more
The October 2026 adjustment adds 333 c/l to 95, 312 c/l to 93, 324.38 c/l to 50ppm diesel and 284.38 c/l to 500ppm diesel. It is the same rand amount in every one of the 54 zones, which is why the inland premium does not change.
Brent crude averaged 101 dollars a barrel over the review period, up from 87.89; the minister’s statement ties that to the US–Iran tensions and doubts about tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Higher international product prices added 329.07 c/l to the basic fuel price of petrol, 280.17 c/l to diesel and 357.23 c/l to illuminating paraffin.
The rand barely moved – 16.213 to 16.212 per US dollar on average – so the exchange rate shaved off less than a cent. The slate levy, which claws back past under-recoveries, goes to 87.66 c/l; the slate stood R10.45 billion in the red at the end of the previous month.
Pumpday applies that adjustment to each district’s September zone price, so the town finder below already shows the new figure. When the department publishes the full schedule we replace the calculation with the official table.

Next adjustment: Wednesday 4 November
Prices change on the first Wednesday of the month. The next one is Wednesday 4 November, normally announced a few days before. The Central Energy Fund’s daily sheet is the best early signal: its last full window (2 Oct to 2 Oct) showed an average under-recovery of 476.61 c/l on 95, almost exactly the 333 c/l that was announced.
The fuel price outlook for November 2026 tracks the new window day by day once the CEF publishes it.
