95 petrol price: R30.25 in Gauteng
At the coast R29.38; the cheapest inland-to-coast spread is in zone 1A, the highest price R31.23 in zone 64C.
The price-marker grade
95 is the grade the whole pricing system is built around: the department calls it the price-marker, and the 93 price is derived from it by an octane differential reviewed once a quarter. From Wednesday 7 October a litre of 95 costs R30.25 in Gauteng, +R3.33 on September.
At the coast the same litre is R29.38. Coastal forecourts sell mostly 95; inland, at altitude, 93 and 95 usually share the pole sign.
Five years of 95 in two lines
The purple line is Gauteng, the amber one the coast; the gap between them is the transport differential, 87 c/l this month. The highest monthly price on record in this series is R30.25, reached in October 2026.
