How the numbers work
The calculator uses the regulated October 2026 price of the zone you choose. Johannesburg to Durban is roughly 560 km by the N3; at 7.5 litres per 100 km that trip burns 42 litres, which at the Gauteng price of R30.25 for 95 is R1,270.50.
For diesel the tool uses the wholesale price, so the real cost at the pump will be somewhat higher. Your last choices stay in this browser so the numbers are ready next time.
