Zone 17A fuel price: R31.18 for 95

Gordonia Central heads the district list of zone 17A, where 95 is regulated at R31.18 with effect from Wednesday 7 October and 93 at R30.81.

That is 180 c/l more than the coastal zone 1A, the cost of hauling fuel along the coast and up the escarpment from the ports.

The whole zone is one district, Gordonia Central, which is why few people have heard of it outside Northern Cape.

A short run to Kenhardt (east of 20° longitude), around 100 km, puts you in zone 15A, where unleaded 95 is 47 c/l cheaper.

Most of this zone lies in Northern Cape, where 23 codes apply and 17A is the 22-cheapest, against R29.94 at best and R31.22 at worst.

The LP gas ceiling here is R39.43/kg. Diesel 50ppm costs R33.73 at wholesale before the retailer’s mark-up.
