Clanwilliam pays the same as every other zone 7B district – R29.78 for 95, R29.41 for 93 – in the schedule that starts Wednesday 7 October.

That is 40 c/l more than the coastal zone 1A, the cost of hauling fuel inland from the ports.

The department lists 8 districts under this code, including Clanwilliam, Jansenville, Joubertina, Laingsburg and 4 more, all in Eastern Cape and Western Cape.

Fill up in Oudtshoorn (zone 4A, ~45 km) and 95 is 20 c/l cheaper.

Most of this zone lies in Eastern Cape, where 15 codes apply and 7B is the 7-cheapest, against R29.38 at best and R30.24 at worst.

The wholesale ceiling for diesel 50ppm is R32.33 (R31.48 for 500ppm); what a forecourt charges at the pump is its own decision.
